Dedicated Mac mini hosting in an EU datacenter

A physical Mac mini that runs only your work, in a European datacenter, with full admin rights.

What dedicated means here

A dedicated Mac is a physical machine that runs only your work. With SoloRack that machine is a Mac mini M6, rented whole to one customer at a time. Its processor, memory, SSD and network connection serve your projects alone, for as long as your rental lasts.

That makes a difference you can measure. Build times are consistent, the iOS Simulator responds straight away, and long-running jobs finish when you expect them to. It also keeps things simple when a client asks where their code is built: on one Mac, used by one customer, in a datacenter in the European Union.

In hosting terms, this is a bare metal Mac: macOS runs directly on the Apple M6 chip, with no virtual machines in between, so every core, all 16 GB of memory and the whole SSD work for you. Some call it Mac as a service; here it means a whole physical Mac, kept on and online in the datacenter, that you rent instead of buying.

The hardware

Each machine is a Mac mini M6 with an Apple M6 chip with a 12-core CPU, 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD, connected to the datacenter network at 1 Gbit/s. Apple silicon combines the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine on one chip with unified memory, which suits Xcode, Swift compilation, Metal and machine-learning work.

The Mac runs the current macOS and stays switched on around the clock. You can treat it as a desktop you visit by remote desktop, as a server you reach over SSH, or as both at once: many developers keep a terminal open for builds next to the graphical desktop for Xcode.

Hosted in the European Union

The machines sit in a datacenter in the European Union. For European companies, that keeps source code, signing certificates and build artefacts inside the EU and under EU data-protection rules, which is often the first question in a client’s security review.

For developers elsewhere it works just as well. You connect from any country by remote desktop or SSH, and teams across Europe get a short network path to the machine. Reminders and support all come from one place, by email.

Admin rights and access

Your account is an administrator account from the first login. Install Xcode from the App Store with your own Apple Account, then add whatever your work needs: Homebrew, Flutter, Node.js, Python, Ruby, CocoaPods, fastlane, Docker Desktop, databases or CI agents.

Access works two ways. A remote-desktop app for Windows, macOS or Linux shows the full macOS desktop, and SSH gives you a terminal for scripts and automation. Services you set up with launchd or brew services start again by themselves after a restart, so the Mac behaves like any other server in your toolbox.

Care for your machine and your data

We never wipe a machine without warning. On the monthly plan you receive reminders 3 days and 1 day before each renewal, and your plan and card are always in My account. If a payment fails, you have 24 hours to fix it, and the Mac stays untouched and reachable meanwhile.

When a rental ends, we warn you first, then your files are gone: no copy is kept anywhere, and the whole Mac is erased before anyone else uses it. Support is by email and answered by people from the team, so a question about your setup reaches someone who can help.

Plans for hosting

Hosting usually means the monthly plan: $112 a month, VAT included where it applies, renewing on the day you started and cancellable at any time from My account. There is no setup fee and no minimum number of months.

If you want to try your workload first, take the 7-day pass for $49: install your tools, run your pipeline for a week and check build times and disk use. For a single task, such as an App Store submission, the 24-hour pass costs $19.

Questions

Do other customers share the machine?
No. Each Mac mini is rented whole to one customer at a time.
How quickly is it online?
Usually within 5 minutes of payment, with its access details in My account.
Can it run around the clock?
Yes. The Mac stays on in the datacenter, so services and builds keep running when you disconnect.
Where is it hosted?
In a datacenter in the European Union.
